Inspired by the ‘A Load Of Poets’ all-dayer at the Jenny Lind pub, Hastings, 9th September 2023. Performed at 1200 Postcards, Hastings on 14th September 2023.

Here come the poets, marching over West Hill, 
Armed with their rhythms and verses. 
Each one has a bottle of ink and a quill, 
And is shouting elaborate curses 

They come to deliver poetic good times, 
And drive out the philistine hordes. 
They’ll seduce you with words, alliteration and rhymes; 
Their pens are much mightier than swords. 

They flock down to the town looking fearsomely brave, 
And take over the old Jenny Lind. 
They drink and they smoke and they rant and they rave, 
Until they’re three sheets to the wind. 

At the end of the battle they lay their pens down, 
And relax as victorious bards, 
While the legend is spreading all over the town 
Of the poets from Twelve Hundred Postcards!
